Orientation in 25 days and I still haven't found a job, Jesus.
Also, http://flashificator.com/1/BlueMoon/Buffet/Buffet.html I'm going to buy a bathing suit today and in the meantime dropping something off for my friend. How is this going to work? Who knows really? |

Mayya & I spent all of last night in the BC Library Cafe studying. It was hell, wicked, evil hell. Toward the morning, I received an email from Lenny, with some attachment that I couldn't open [using macs, for me, impossible] & I emailed him back [3am? 4am?] and we had a back-and-forth conversation about how he thinks he sent me the fourth exam - - which he didn't, but we flipped anyway.
Lev & I went to Marine Park with Rem after I got out of chem and chilled in the grass on the dog blanket. Then we played with all the dogs in the field.
Parents are leaving for the weekend to the Poconos...every part of me wants to go with them, but the remaining logical parts of my mind scream YOU HAVE AN EXAM NEXT WEEK - - A FINAL EXAM SHIT FUCK.
Brian, wherever you are, I'm thinking of you. |

I think we'll take a positive and active role in determining the direction technology goes in, not just sit on the beach and have machines serve us martinis. -Marvin Minsky
I'm doing too many crazy things. My body is going to suffer very soon, and that scares me. I want to go clean for a while, at least a month to see how it goes. However, I've already made a date to candyflip next weekend. Therefore, I must wait until after that happens. Life is a crazy thing, and I like it. I just don't want to get caught up, which is where I'm headed. Therefore, I want to stop. Just for a little while. I can't believe I'm saying this, but whatever.
I'm starting to get a little uncomfortable with everything that's happening. I don't know why, but the feeling is definitely there. I'm getting uncomfortable.
Whatever, I just want to move into my dorm room already. Brianna is at orientation, and mine is a month away. I want to get this all over with so I can lie in my bed whenever I like and say whatever my mind desires. I hate lying.

I wanted to write about happiness because jay's post got me thinking about a lot of the stuff I've studied before. Happiness is a HUGE topic in psychology. There has been a ton of research on it, and there's a journal dedicated solely to the topic.
I've always been interested in it, probably because I was pretty unhappy growing up so I turned to studying it to try to figure myself out etc. I feel like my teenage angst is written ALL over me, i.e. i come off as a pretty unhappy person even though Im not. For a few years about once every month somebody would say to me "why do you look so depressed/sad all the time?" It totally bugged me because I would be like "um... im not..." I think its just a remnant of how i grew up. The same way i can come off as unemotional or unaffected. Its something im moving away from, i think.
Anyways, as i actually made real progress and became a more mature/well-rounded dude, i no longer got the comments about how sad i looked all the time. Nowadays i have this phenomenom where people will be like "i thought you hated me when i first met you..." Which I guess is better and a sign that im heading in the right direction....
enough about my emo life...
A lot of the happiness research that I am familiar with is correlations, like-> are richer people happier? Basically they survey people and various aspects of their lives and see if it is related to how happy they are.
There are a few basic findings that I think are really significant and important.
1) Once you get above the poverty line, wealth DOES NOT correlate to happiness. In other words, once you are at the point where you can afford to eat and live indoors, how much money you make doesn't so much affect your well being. Last I read it was something like a 1% relationship. The movie/book fight club has a lot to say about consumerism in modern society and how it has largely morphed into a bad thing. We are on a "hedonic treadmill." We all want just a LITTLE bit more. We want to be just a LITTLE richer, just a LITTLE more good looking, just a LITTLE BETTER. And then, we actually get a little better and we feel good about it for a while. THEN, we acclimate to our current conditions and get back on the cycle of wanting everything to be a LITTLE better. That is one reason why wealth doesn't affect happiness (factoid: lottery winners return to their previous level of happiness one year after winning) Another reason is that STUFF can't FULFILL you, NOR get you laid despite what advertising says. But that's a whole 'nother story.
2) The biggest factor in determining somebodies hapiness is how SOCIALLY CONNECTED they are. This is a fact of biology, and it immutable and it doesnt matter what anybody says because this is some true shit and it is CORRECT: happiness is most dependant on a persons SOCIAL BONDS and their sense of having a "place" in the community. By that i mean if you feel like you are an important part of your social group, and you are very connected to your friends, you will be happier. There's plenty of good evolutionary psychology reasons for this that i wont go into. It is vexing man. In American society you grow up with these values instilled into you like "establish goals. make money. work your job. save the world etc" And then you realize its as simple as FRIENDS + OUTGOING = HAPPY. Its like -whats the point?- In middle school/high school/now when you finish up the school year you think "finally i can relax. it will be so nice to be away from school..." Then after like a month you sorta wanna go back to school, because that's where your little community is. I guess im writing this to point out that -everybody- feels this way. When you feel sad/depressed you can find a million little reasons why but it usually boils down to social connectedness.
I didn't outline this before writing it so its a bit all over the place and i have to go soon. I don't remember the main point of why i wrote this but if you guys are interested in this kinda stuff i like talking about it.
one more thing ill point out is, achieving goals and being a well accomplished person is AWESOME. Even if it doesnt translate into tangible relationships, it is cool in its OWN RIGHT. This is a really deep topic. Ill probably write more about this stuff later.

Hiya Everyone!
I have realized that I have dropped off the face of the earth in regards to posts, and I felt the need to remedy that situation. I didn't have really much to say, but I think ive compiled enough to create a post here. I ensure u all that I have been reading everyone's, and Its super great feeling like I know whats going on with y'all
ANYWAYS....
My job has gone full-time starting in roughly an hour, so now I will begin to make money, well some that is. Im pretty sure I failed Stats I, it was the hardest course ive ever taken, shoved at u in 4 weeks. Im not going to be the only one, so I don't necessarily feel dumb. If you knew my professor, or just the statistics department in the business building, u would understand a little better. I know Jeff knows, I think he failed it the first time as well. Correct me if im wrong jeffers. But yeah, the reason I wont make too much money is that my mom wants me to pay for it if i failed it, thus, im 700 dollars in the hole right now....not cool : (
On a lighter note, I have been in New Paltz close to everyday. I just can't leave it to be honest. Im having so much fun with everyone, it really feels like family there (and im spending more time with that family then my true one actually, lol). Bryan's GF Kat is visiting from Maryland and her addition has been fabulous. She is just a real awesome person: Cooking everything from cookies to chicken dinners for us, teaching us little bits of sign language, and just being a fun person in general. My apartment is starting to shape up slowly, I have practically everything in my room now except my bed and clothes, so that is a good feeling "moving in" day won't really be much of a hastle at all, one car trip should do it : )
I went to the recent party @ Dima and Danny's new house, which I dub "The 201". Ive partied at there in the past with its prior residents, but the new ones give them a run for their money. It was a good time, lots of familiar faces mixed in with beardo's, but what house party in New Paltz doesn't attract them? Something good that came out of it was that Eileen (who practically lives there now, because of Abe) might have found me a sublet, which is pretty good I guess. It will be like 1100 dollars saved, maybe a little less, but who cares?
Dave and our upstairs neighbors all moved out last week, so its pretty quiet now around our place. There is a funny story I do have to tell about him tho. Dave started selling/giving us things for our apartment when he started moving out. At one point he summoned us upstairs because he had a few things he was willing to part way with. So he shows us this bar chair (it had a back, making it a chair, not a stool) and he was asking us if we wanted it, we didnt have a need, so we refused. Dave then said uttered this sentense: "Like yo, im not even talking money here.........Im talking chairs dude." If you know dave, and add all his mannerisms to that sentense, you would be laughing right now.
Speaking of Dave actually...Dan and I went and got our library cards for Elting Library, because its like a 2 minute walk and because of dave leaving, they shut off the wifi we were stealing from them, as well as the cable : ( But Dave works at the library, and he gave us our cards that grant us internet access. Dave givith and taketh away I guess. they have a decent DVD collection there. I would honestly invest in a card there, for a investment of nothing. They have decent titles and u keep them out for a week. Not too bad IMO.
Alright kids, I need to stop this post here, I have yet to eat breakfest and I need to be in work by 11, so thanks for reading. If something worth telling pops up, ill let y'all know about it
Peace, Love, and all that jazz : P

Hey guys. i decided to post because things were pretty awful last month and i believe everything has taken a turn for Awesome. ive been reading everything i can that you guys post, so keep i coming, i miss the lot of you. you guys really have been making my bad days tolerable. So, my camp councilor job finally started today and i cant tell you how much playing capture the flag and "don't touch the rocks tag" with 2nd graders made me feel revitalized. The kids literally just wash away all the bad stuff. and for 3 hours they look up to me as the coolest being on the planet. It isn't a power trip (usually) i genuinely like being a good, energetic role model for these kids. This is my 7th year at the camp. wow... i started when i was 14. i have literally seen a class go from kindergarten and graduate into middle school. one of the new councilors this year was in my group a few years back. somehow Summer fun has created an amazing community group. the kids always get testy when they hit 5th and 6th grades. the way to get through to them isn't to command respect, but to deserve it. i'm not really sure where i'm going with this
So after work today i felt better than i have since leaving college. with this new wind in my sails, i went out job hunting so i can finally quit working at the hampton bays movie theater. this job has been a large part of my (for lack of a better word) depression recently. i wasn't really super depressed, but i just felt trapped. anywho i went to a bunch of places and had my resume accepted in two different places! i can quit!! i basically put in my 2 weeks notice today!!! YESSS!!!!! such a great day.
then i played football with rachel for a half hour, had dinner with the fam, and went out to the movies with two of my best friends. the lattanzio twins have been my friends since pre school. they are the most genuinely amazing people i have ever met. They both work at a fancy restaurant owned by their family. so on a normal day i can only get one of them to hang with. but today i got to take both of them to see kung fu panda. and they loved it! and rachel came too!!
i really couldn't have asked for a better day. i dont wanna jinx anything, but i think this might be the end of "one of those" months. I even got to see evan yesterday!
finally i saw that you cool cats were posting this survey thing soooo here you go im posting it in the next post |

I have here, a list compiled, of the car companies and the models that they have contributed to the Anal game. For those of you who do not know the Anal game, here is a brief overview: When bored, or just walking about, or doing anything at all, take the model (or make) of the car and put the word “anal” in front of it. Step two: Enjoy.
Acura: Anal Legend Buick: Anal Rendezvous
Chevrolet: Anal Avalanche Anal Blazer Anal Celebrity Anal Equinox Anal Venture Chrysler: Anal Prowler Anal Voyager
Dodge: Anal Avenger Anal Charger Anal Dynasty Anal Viper Ford: Anal Club Wagon Anal Edge Anal Escort Anal Expedition Anal Explorer Anal Focus Anal Probe
GMC: Anal Canyon
Honda: Anal Fit Anal Insight Anal Odyssey Anal Pilot Anal Prelude Hyundai: Anal Accent Anal Entourage
Isuzu: Anal Amigo Anal Ascender Anal Impulse Anal Rodeo Anal Trooper Jeep: Anal Commander Anal Compass Anal Liberty Anal Wrangler
Land Rover: Anal Discovery
Lincoln: Anal Aviator Anal Navigator Mazda: Anal Tribute
Mercury: Anal Mystique
Mitsubishi: Anal Eclipse Anal Mirage Nissan: Anal Quest Anal Titan
Pontiac: Anal Vibe Subaru: Anal Legacy
Toyota: Anal Echo Anal Tundra The FORD car company wins for two reasons: One, being that they have the most funny combinations that I’ve come upon so far, and, two, because of Anal Probe. I mean, come on. This game had to have been invented because of this car. If there are any disputes about the winner or if you know of any that I’ve missed, please feel free to include commentary! |

so two nights ago i was feeling my balls, and i noticed a lump. this scared the shit outta me, so yesterday i went to go see a doctor. It turns out it is probably a cyst, and it is very very unlikely that I have cancer.
That being said I was shitting my pants for like 8 hours.
I might have to get surgery to get the cyst removed, but its pretty minor and its not cancer which is all i really care about.

Last night me, evan, jared, bryan, kat, sal, val, and wendy (sals friend) went to a party at Abe's house. Most everyone left after 20 min since it was hot and the "band" was pretty bad, but me and some others stayed until 1ish.
Yesterday my sister was visiting new paltz so i hung out with her and some of her friends. Went to Mcgillycuddys and got irish nachos, which is like, inifinity times better than anything i've eaten in a while. Im on a severe budget since my job situation continues to suck- the anthropologist decided he didn't need as much help as he originally thought so he let me go. Right now i'm waiting on target to call me back and i'm going to apply to a few more places in town.
That's it for right now.

That party was exactly right. That party was insane. That party was one hundred percent what I needed and what I will be experiencing this summer. That party was Zeckie, Alex, Mickey, Charlie. That party was blown to the heavens. Life.
Also, Spain is going to win Germany today. That's my bet. Maybe it's the wrong one. Germany is a great team, but I'm counting on Spain.
Whatever, I hope there's a party like that every day for the rest of my life, and I really hope that I see those kids again. |

I've had this journal for a while now. I've written some crazy shit in here. I've been a stupid little girl and written about it, I've matured and grown up and written about it. Well yesterday I was sitting on the train and thinking about how much I love train rides. There were three people in the car, including myself. It was beautiful, and was as if the energy was running through us and we were all thinking the same thing. I went to the concert yesterday even though I didn't really want to. Good thing I did. I missed Kyle dearly. I missed smoking weed with anyone besides the usual suspects. My life is so much freer than I thought it was back in the day. I'm happy to be able to say that.
Anyway, college is starting in a surprising 53 days and orientation is in a simple 30. This means that time is going to pass quickly. However, there is so much that I can fit into 53 days. 53 days is enough to do more than I could ever imagine or even think about. In the next week, I will have more experiences than I have had in the past month. Is it true? I guess I'll find out. That's what's wonderful.
I have a picture of New Paltz as my desktop background. Every time I power up my computer, I smile.
Kyle wants to trip acid with me because he says that he's heard I'm a great tripper. I don't know if I will ever be the same person I was. I wonder if I'll die earlier than I should. I think that I am in love with being so young.
Also, Personal Jesus by Johnny Cash:
Your own, personal, Jesus someone to hear your prayers, someone who cares
Your own, personal, Jesus someone to hear your prayers, someone who's there
Feeling unknown and you're all alone, flesh and bone by the telephone, lift up the receiver, i'll make you a believer
Take second best, put me to the test, things on your chest, you need to confess, i will deliver, you know i'm a forgiver
Reach out and touch faith Reach out and touch faith
Your own, personal, Jesus someone to hear your prayers, someone who cares
Your own, personal, Jesus someone to hear your prayers, someone to care
Feeling unknown and you're all alone, flesh and bone by the telephone, lift up the receiver, i'll make you a believer i will deliver, you know i'm a forgiver
Reach out and touch faith Reach out and touch faith Reach out and touch faith |

i am so so happy to have gus back he is such an incredible doggie and he even learned how to use the stairs today! :D
and in other news i have had a terrible ear infection for the past few days that made my jaw have tremendous amounts of pain and now my other ear is infected and all the pain has gotten worse my dr doesnt know what to do with me so she is sending me to a specialist tomorrow my mom thinks i may have cat scratch fever from emi because she is a carrier and if thats true then we would have to put her down and i would be heartbroken my mom wants to put her down at the end of the summer anyway because her disease is hurting her so much thats going be so incredibly hard. she is ALWAYS with me.. for the past 9 years she has slept by my side every night and when i went through lots of time having no friends, she has always been there it sounds so cheesy but im so attached to her but im not going to think about that now and just enjoy all the time i have with her
hopefully i wont be in pain soon. i havent been able to eat, talk, or hear right for the past few days. and i have to call into work tomorrow which i HATE doing because i love my job and the people i work with and getting payed is always a plus haha
we'll just have to wait and see i suppose. |

Beautiful. Life is beautiful. I'm okay with being a crazy kid this summer. It's been happening so far and has being suiting me well. Although I get "am I going to die?" scares almost once a week, it's worth it. My life is mine, and it is wonderful.
I am still exhausted from yesterday. Good thing I didn't take any sticks before my graduation this morning, which was a complete waste of time. I almost fell asleep. I was able to buy my new gauge though, which means I'll be heading to a six sometime next week. I've been wearing the smaller one for too long since it fell out.
Whatever, this summer is going to be so wild. I hope I don't cause any pain. |

so yesterday i was assigned to help move this giant wooden shelf thingy from one room to another. it was this old, rickety, wooden shelf, about 7 feet tall. one of my co-workers and i take each side and attempt to push it out the door, but it was too tall to fit. so we decide to tilt it a bit, so it can fit through the doorway. i start to pull while he pushes, and the thing shakes a bit. no big deal. we repeat the process again, and the thing completely collapses on to us. the sides fall off, the shelves fall off, the top falls off, it was fucking epic. i couldnt stop laughing because it seems like the type of thing to happen in a mel brooks movie, two kids trying to move something only to have it crumble to pieces the second it budges. so as you can tell, work is going alright, except for a little frustration today (get ready for some world class jew-complaining). i was told to come to the other elementary school in the district today because they needed extra help moving some stuff to the middle school, which is right next door. just some chairs, desks, stuff like that. the work a little tiring and aggravating, but it wasnt that bad because the rest of the day we didnt have much to do. i might as well get to why I'm frustrated, which is due to the people i was working with. some of the kids who work at this elementary school (as opposed to the one i was previously assigned to) are pretty young, like freshman in college i think. the guys i was working with previously were 23 and 20, but these other kids are right out of high school. and let me tell you. they are tools. remember the typical A-team from high school, those trendy fucks who loved to make fun at anyone not as athletically gifted or good looking as them? i'm not one to judge, but this was the impression i got from these guys. no one really made fun of me at all, but they did it to some other guys i worked with and it really pissed me off. it just makes me remember why i hated high school so much. i just got that impression from them, that they didnt want to associate with anyone ''below'' them. they werent up front mean, but they just reminded me of those fucking high school kids that i hate hate hated so much. stupid little kids, with their god damn cliques. they kind of made me sick. anyway, aside from that little outburst, life is going okay. im turning into an old man who doesnt have the strength to go out with his friends at night on a weekday which sucks, but i think i'll get used to it. in other news, i think id like to announce that i think the worst mistake ive ever made was telling she-who-inspired-my-username about the brown. Between IMs, bumper stickers, and random journal posts all entailing the nature of a certain someone's feces', i think i awakened an unknown obsession with shit that even she didnt know existed. i got my paycheck from my previous carny job which is good, 282 dollars for three days of work sounds fine to me. the guy i like won the ultimate fighter...and...um...thats it. as ive told everyone a million times already, i miss u all and i think i'll slit my wrists if i dont see u guys soon. as of now, i can meet up with people for the rush show, and hopefully we can make a city reunion or something so i can satisfy my separation anxiety. oh wait, that's just gas. im really glad to know everyone is doing ok...keep up the IMs : )

After all those years of living in fear I stopped worrying about the bomb or the other shoe dropping After all those years worried for my life I started to enjoy myself, I started to enjoy myself And the only ones who have suffered from it Have been the creditors and the landlords And you know what? Fuck them If they want an apology they can have it For any inconvenience I might have caused But the butterflies in my stomach have flown up through my throat And learned to love the open air, the open air Sorry guys, sit down and have a drink, but I’m not sorry |

take me down, to the river...
today me and jared transported a desk from the salvation army to our house. im trying to think of a way to explain how we moved it, but i cant really describe it. basically we had the desk leaning on the inside of my trunk, while one of us carried the back of it while walking behind the car whilst it was moving. im aware this dosent make any sense, maybe jared can figure out a way to explain it. suffice it to say, it was hilarious yet effective.
i went to the doctor this morning and it turns out i have high blood pressure. So I have to eat less salt, excersize more, and probably go on a medication. Its lame.
Jon is mixing the album over the next few days so thatll be done pretty soon. Also he was takling to me about doing something on the July 12 show instead of cancelling it, so maybe that will happen.
Hung out at bryan's last night. Kat is apparently staying here for a while so we all ate dinner and watched "i love the millenium."
I got two jobs. I'm going to be working for an anthropologist as a research assistant. His thesis is that religiosity is an evolutionary advantage because it decreases stress (or something along those lines). So part of my job is going to be going to church services and soliciting saliva samples so that we can analyze them for stress hormones. I'm meeting with him tommorow to talk about it. Its pretty much a perfect job and I couldn't really ask for any more. And it pays 15$/hr which will help me explore food groups other than pasta, cereal and soup.
My other job is target. and boy am i excited. Im going for an interview on thursday. I dont know what my job is yet, i think thats something im figuring out on thursday.
My housemate jason was moving in all day, hes going to be sticking around until thursday. Tonight me and jared are going over bryans to watch The Goonies.
And the people upstairs from me are moving out, so my internet is now really actually gone. I'm using school computers for a few weeks. Its lame.
Im gunna do some reading than go to bryans. Speaking of which I read 150 or so pages of Darwin's Dangerous Idea and I wasn't really feelin it. It is philosophy of biology which a lot stuff i either don't understand or don't care about. I havent decided what im going to start reading next but maybe something relevant to my research job.
Also me and Dr. Geher have a project going right now about attitudes towards sex differences. Something else i have to work on. |

its been almost a week since my last post, and not much has changed. In fact, not much ever changes. My life is my job, which includes fascinating events such as : a shortage of the napkins used to roll silverware..the smaller napkins just don't have the same results, certain people over tip me cause they're too drunk/stoned to read their bill I guess, no matter what day it is we're always out of rice..???, this really weird guy who works grill with his chin pierced will not stop hitting on me, the really strange girl who works as a server will not stop telling me her life-story, one of the computers is down, the huge walk-in freezer is the scariest place I've ever known, kids have figured out how to strategically place food in the cushions of the benches..so it makes clean-up take much longer than anticipated, it is my firm belief that someone at the restaurant is stealing all the spoons, and if I have to sing the Friendly's birthday song one more time this week.....I'm....gonna.....scream
...so thats it. Thats whats new with me..pretty sad. I did however get one break from work last week and I went to a Yankee game with my dad. It was really fun. Just being in the city was awesome. Getting out and away from the same every-day routine was greatly needed. And I have plans to see my friends from home again soon, so I'm looking forward to that. Speaking of which, we should all plan a city trip, or just a visit for the summerrr, cause I miss you guys. I hope you are all doing well :) |

so im exhausted and going to bed but i wanted to mention a couple of things recently happening in my life
1) i bought my dad a top of the line wireless router for fathers day bcz we had been talking about getting the network in my house working again...and so i installed it and it works beautifully...5 bars of signal strength...thank you netgear and indian "richard" who helped set that up :)
2) 2 weeks of work down and onto week three...i get PAID this week!!!!
3) friday i had my friends party...it was a little awkward since all my friends havent seen or spoken to each other in a while and in addition we were the minority bcz he has all these new work friends who were there and largely outnumber us yet they were pretty awesome and fun. oh and marin showed up with his indian gf who wasnt wearing my neckace by the way...hmmmmmmmmm at any rate he ignored me and i followed in his footsteps
4) jeff's on saturday was interesting...his fam was family-ish as usual and his home friends were the same...there was kings and screw your neighbor in addition to beer pong and amazing food and desert.
5) after spending the night at jeffs, i finally got to sleep in a little and then ordered rock band for the wii on best buy.com for in store pick up...picked it up, went back to jeffs, set it up and played a little. then i went home earlier than usual bcz i spent the night and bcz i had work today...came home and played a little rock band here which my dad made an attempt at haha
6) work today...did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING...so bored shitless is not even fair to get paid for this...its not even enjoyable, the time passes so slowly. left early, got home and played rock band with the sister and friend and then some wario ware...now its bed time
thats my life recently and im glad to hear about everyone elses and all the fun awesome things they're doing...wish we could be doing them together....let's work on that people!!!! u know who's on top of that shit...KRISTINA!!!! get on this with me...we'll make this happen!!! :) |

gus is missing and i am so upset. and the baby bunny passed away this morning. i really hope gus is ok. i hunted for him for sooo long around the property and we told all the neighbors. i feel like im going to have a nervous breakdown not knowing if he is alright.
in other news after this semester at new paltz i am going to start doing veterinary studies. i have thought about it long and hard and i have decided that i really REALLY want to be a vet. i know its going to be a pain to switch over, and i'll probably have to transfer schools but this is something i am willing to dedicate the rest of my life to i was never very happy being an art major and i never even wanted it as my major to begin with i just kind of fell into it as the easy way out but now i have realized what my calling is and im really excited about it.
im so worried about gus |
